Programs

NAWIC San Diego introduces local students to the exciting world of construction through scholarships, hands-on programs, and community outreach. We’ve awarded thousands of dollars in trade and collegiate scholarships while inspiring youth to explore careers, build skills, and create rewarding futures in construction.

  • College & Trade Scholarships

We grant at least three scholarships annually to deserving recipients.

    Our scholarships include:

A student with a parent employed in the San Diego construction industry.

A female student pursuing a degree in a construction-related field.

An individual in the San Diego construction industry seeking education or training in a trade.

  • Design Drafting Competition

The Design Drafting Competition invites San Diego County high school and college students to take on a challenge created by a licensed architect or engineer.

Participants demonstrate creativity, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills through architectural drawings and renderings. Local winners are recognized at the annual NAWIC San Diego awards dinner and may advance to regional and national competitions for additional recognition and prizes.

  • Block Kids Building Program

The Block Kids Building Program introduces kindergarten through 6th grade students to the world of construction in a fun, hands-on way.

Using interlocking blocks and three of the following items—rock, string, foil, and poster board—students build imaginative structures or projects while learning about construction careers. The program sparks curiosity at an early age and encourages future interest in the industry.
