CAD DRAFTING COMPETITION SUMMARY REPORT
The
NAWIC (NEF) CAD/Drafting Competition
was held on Friday, April 16th
at the new office of DPR
Construction. Eight CAD competitors
were able to take the day off from
school and enjoyed an educational
and entertaining field trip.
Students heard a brief presentation
on the history of LEED and what it
takes to become a LEED Platinum
building. Then members of the DPR
staff treated students, parents,
NAWIC volunteers and even a judge or
two to a tour of their new
building. They pointed out the
different materials used in the
building to secure LEED Platinum
status – everything from using
recycled trench plates for
doorframes to state of the art
Solatube lighting. Student
competitors represented Santana High
School , Lincoln High School , La
Costa Canyon High and Construction
Tech Academy .

to DPR Construction for hosting the
event the very week that they moved
into their new building! In
addition, every attendee received a
large gift bag of pencils, pencils,

without our sponsors.
